Cambo and Forgans St Andrews Wedding with Laura and Daniel

Quote

I have been lucky enough to shoot some fantastic wedding weddings this year, Laura and Daniel’s St Andrews wedding day is definitely up there, you’ll soon see why! Their wedding was centred around their favourite place: St Andrews 🙂 The ceremony was at Cambo Estate, I was so excited to photograph a wedding here, the gardens are beautiful and so well kept.   Laura was walked down the garden by her Mum to meet Daniel.  Their ceremony was conducted by the lovely Humanist, Dorothy Nowak.  After the ceremony everyone walked over to Cambo House for drinks and part one of the best wedding feast ever!  That’s right! All Fife’s best cuisine… Fish and Chips served by Anstruther Fish Bar followed by a fudge doughnut from Fisher and Donaldson  We grabbed the opportunity to have a wee photo shoot around the gardens….  Daniel and Laura made an early exit to go and visit some of their favourite haunts in St Andrews…  We started at St Andrews harbour, had a stop at The Scores (the spot where Daniel had proposed to Laura) and down to their favourite beach, the West Sands.  How cute is this VW camper from View from the slow lane  The wedding reception was held at Forgans St Andrews.  It is a very cool restaurant in the centre of town, perfect for a small wedding like this.  Speeches, some tasty food and a bit of ceilidh dancing followed… Congratulations Laura and Daniel, I hope your marriage is just as great as your wedding day!

“Thanks so much for our photos – we absolutely love them! They’ve captured our day perfectly, we both look at them pretty much daily and we’re not sure we’ll ever stop looking at them” – Laura and Daniel

Fasque Castle Wedding

Fasque Castle has always been on my wedding venue wish list so I was excited when Shawn and Stuart booked me to photograph their day.  The castle and it’s grounds are pretty impressive…. The Castle interior is just as impressive too! I arrived to find a very chilled out bridal party having a laugh while they had their Make up done. The boys were just as relaxed, enjoying a dram of Whiskey in the Library. What a photogenic room!  I loved Shawn’s hair, she was the coolest of brides!  I also wish all rooms I do Bridal Prep in looked as good as this one haha! I think her Dad was impressed too <3   It rained heavily all day pretty much non-stop so there are very few outdoor shots but I love a bit of puddle reflection in my photos!  After the ceremony the guests gathered for a drinks reception …. I took the Bride and Groom for a short photo shoot around the beautiful Castle…  We got some outside photos….. with a bit of shelter!  There were so many small details around the Castle, I loved the colour scheme that Shawn and Stewart picked 🙂 Some group photos on the stairs before speeches and dinner…. The happy couple made a grand entrance to kick off the evening reception!

Congratulations Stuart & Shawn!

I got a lovely email when they received their photos as well:

Thank you again, you did a fantastic job we really love our photos ❤

Elopement to a Scottish Castle

Forter Castle is one of my all time favourite wedding venues.  It is only a 40 minute drive from Dundee but feels like a million miles away.  It is so remote and quiet with background noises of sheep and birds tweeting and views of miles and miles of un-spoilt countryside. Colin and Toni came from Australia to have their wedding here which I think was a great online shopping choice!  An elopement to a Scottish Castle is always a good choice if you ask me!  I love how dark and cosy the bridal suite is in the Castle.  Toni did her own hair and make-up with the help of her Mum and Sister. Meanwhile Colin’s Mum came from Seattle to sort him out!  The ceremony was outside in the Castle grounds, which made a stunning backdrop for photos 🙂 The ceremony kicked off with a song Colin had made for Toni.  He enlisted her Dad to be his Guitarist and I think she like it… Poppy the dog definitely did!  Once the knot was tied and papers were signed, the guests all went inside to warm up while we took some photos outside before the rain came on! It was such a relaxed and happy wedding, I probably don’t need to say that, you can tell by the photos!  There was a bit of confetti action during the group shot as well….  Toni and Colin got a nice warm welcome on their return and sat down for dinner with their guests and a few speeches.

Congratulations Toni and Colin, I hope you all had a great holiday in Scotland!  I got a lovely email to say:

The photos are perfect! Thank you so much!

Ballathie House Hotel Wedding in Perthshire with Ruth and Robin

Ballathie House Hotel is lovely place, an old country house on a huge estate with nice bright rooms and cosy fires a great choice of venue for Ruth and Robin’s wedding.  I arrived to see some impressive cars owned by Robin and his friends’ but even more impressive was this cake stand filled with Tunnocks goodies!      The guests all met and caught up in the hall before they were ushered inside for the ceremony, then Ruth made her entrance looking gorgeous in her bespoke dress 🙂  The big smiles from the bride and groom say it all 🙂  After the ceremony everyone enjoyed a celebration drink while I kept one eye on the window waiting on the rain going off!  It stopped for about 5 minutes and I just managed to get this group shot before the downpour!  Luckily we had use of the bright ceremony room for a few more group photos and for everyone to socialise in while I got some natural shots. Congratulations to you both <3

“The photos are great and really reflect the relaxing and enjoyable time we were all having”

Small Wedding at Perth Registry Office with Laura and James

I love a tiny wee wedding and they don’t come any smaller than this! Laura and James emailed me just a few ago.  They had planned a very small (two friends as witnesses), low key, Monday morning Registry office wedding in Perth before their baby is born.  No wedding cars, flowers or fuss and no Photos.  Thankfully they had a change of heart about the latter and decided a few photos for the family to see might be nice so they booked me for just an hour and this is what happened….. James and Laura exchanged vows in front of their two witnesses. The words in a small ceremony always feel very powerful, I think it is the lack of noise and distraction in the room but it was a moving experience and the congratulations that followed were sweet….  After the ceremony, this party of four (five if you include the baby bump) planned to go to Malmaison in Dundee for lunch so we decided to have a fairly casual photo shoot on the walk back to the car park! The Registry Office in Perth is next to the River which makes a great backdrop for photos.  We were lucky enough to get sunshine in January too!  There are some beautiful old buildings in Perth (that is the Courthouse in the photo above!) so we wandered along, having a chat and a few stops on the way.  The atmosphere was calm and cheerful as we said or goodbyes. I got some lovely feedback from them too:

“The whole day was just as we wanted it to go. We can’t believe how great they turned out, such a fantastic set of photos! We can’t thank you enough for capturing our special day so perfectly.”

Congratulations to Laura and James x

Are you are planning your own small wedding and think professional photos will be too much fuss or expensive?  Please remember that when the day is over, photos are your only tangible memories, without them the moments of love and happiness will fade with time.  The photography doesn’t have to be posed and it doesn’t have to last all day.  All the photos you see here were captured in one hour!

St Andrews Old Course Wedding with Dawn and Danny

St Andrews Old Course Hotel weddings are always special, so I was excited to be booked as Dawn and Danny’s Photographer.  St Peter and Paul’s RC Church in Dundee was the starting place for the ceremony on this freezing but sunny day in December.  Dawn arrived looking amazing in her dress, I loved this bouquet as well…. Danny had a wee wait for his Bride and was looking a bit nervous by the time she arrived….. It was a lovely ceremony led by Mgr Ken, made extra special by the Primary School class Dawn teaches who came to sing and do some readings during their Christmas holidays 🙂 The other love of Danny and Dawn’s lives, their doggy, Stella came to congratulate her Mum and Dad and have some photos taken.  Anyone who knows me will know how happy I was about this moment!  I love Stella’s happy face here <3  The next stop was the beautiful Old Course Hotel in St Andrews for the wedding reception.  It was so cold the pond in the garden was totally frozen over, Dawn braved the weather in her lacy sleeves for the sake of good photos though, she is my kind of girl! We managed to avoid the flying golf balls for a few photos on the Swilken Bridge too! Time to get cosy in the bar and enjoy the drinks reception….  The decor was really lovely and tied in perfectly with their colour scheme, they named their tables after gins 🙂  Plenty of laughs during some great speeches by Dawn’s Dad, Danny and his Best Man…  The evening guests arrived after dinner and the band got the party started in style! Congratulations Mr & Mrs Albayati! X

The best of 2017 Weddings….

January is always a good time to look back on the past year and reflect so today I selected a photo or two from each wedding I shot in 2017 and put them in a folder.  When I looked though these images together for the first time, I was blown away by what a great year it really was and also reminded what a beautiful country Scotland is (even in the worst weather).  I feel incredibly lucky that in an ever growing sea of Wedding Photographers, I still get bookings with the BEST couples who have often found me through the amazing people I’ve worked with before.  Thank you to all of you!  Xx

The Cow Shed Crail Wedding with Andy and Amy

The Cow Shed in Crail is a wedding venue I’ve been counting down the days to visiting ever since Amy and Andy booked it last year… you’ll soon see why!  I had actually already taken wedding photos of Amy about 7 years ago (not for a real wedding, she modelled for some wedding photos at her Mum’s work when she was a teenager) so I was really happy when she booked me for her real wedding to Andy (the same tall boy she was going out with when we first met!).The day started off with some bridal prep photos at Amy and Andy’s house, where the girl’s were having their hair and make up done. There was a wee bit of emotion when Amy came downstairs in her beautiful wedding dress!  I think Lilly approved of her Mum’s dress choice too 🙂Meanwhile my second Photographer Lynne was with Andy and his Groomsmen over at his family’s farm before they all headed to the Cow Shed…The bridesmaids arrived in style in this classic VW Camper-van.  I absolutely loved these sequin dresses, they look great in the photos….The Cow Shed is a DIY venue and Amy and Andy had decorated absolutely every corner with cosy blankets, home made jam favours, chalkboard signs, lighting and even a kid’s tent to keep the little ones amused during the day.  Andy is a fishmonger so I especially liked this sign haha….The Camper-van came back with Amy and her Dad and it was time to get married!  Lilly and her favourite bunny were first to enter the ceremony room….First look *gulp*It was a tight fit at the front of the room but I was able to peek between the best men to catch some smiley faces from the families 🙂Andy and Amy had a Humanist ceremony with a few reading and a bit of knot tying,  this was their first kiss as Mr & Mrs…I’d guess by their faces they are all happy to be married 🙂A bit of Confetti throwing and photos outside followed the ceremony! The Cow Shed is surrounded by fields and Amy was up for swapping her Jimmy Choo’s for wellies for the photos…After the photos it was time to eat!  The marquee had just as much amazing decor as the rest of the venue with another VW camper-van as a bar amongst the other details…There was just a small matter of getting the kids off the bouncy castle first…Some lovely speeches before the meal and evening guests arrived.  Soon it was time for the party to start!Amy and Andy were the second cutest couple on the dance-floor that night!Everyone was up giving the ceilidh dancing a go when I left and it was all going well!Congratulations Amy and Andy xxx

Carnoustie Golf Hotel Wedding Photography

Carnoustie Golf Hotel is a great wedding venue, especially on a sunny day like Lisa and Neil had! I love the bridal suite, it is huge and bright so great for getting ready photos!  How cute is Scarlett looking at her Mum’s wedding dress? 🙂 I spotted the Groom and his Groomsmen from the balcony and got a sneaky photos while the girls hid! They had a Humanist ceremony conducted by Gary Smith.  After the ceremony everyone went outside for group photos and drinks in the sunshine…  I got a few photos of the bride and groom on the golf course before everyone headed inside for dinner…  A bit of dancing finished the day nicely!

Congratulations Lisa and Neil 🙂

Forbes of Kingennie wedding photography with Ryan and Karla

Karla and Ryan had a Forbes of Kingennie wedding a few weeks ago.  The day started with some bridal prep photography in one of the Lodges…. The men were in a nearby lodge so I popped in to take a few photos on the way to the ceremony building….  As you can see it was a wet day at Forbes of Kingennie! Karla’s bridesmaids helped get her ready to go while Ryan and his groomsmen welcomed the guests into the ceremony room… The helpful staff were on hand with brollies to help Karla and her bridesmaids stay dry!  I love when couples let their kids get involved in the ceremony 🙂  They had a Humanist Ceremony conducted by Gary Smith…  The windy, wild rain wasn’t going anywhere so we opted for photos in the cosy shelter of the indoors!  Speeches were held before dinner…  Once the evening guests arrived and the band were ready, I set up some lighting for the first dances….Conrgatulations to all three of you! <3

“Karen did our wedding pictures for us and to say we are delighted is an understatement. We have a three year old son so knew that posing for any length of time would be a challenge and as a result we requested photos that captured the feeling of our day. We are in love with our pictures that show laughter and are honest. Thank you Karen xxx”
