I was genuinely excited when Lynsey and Gregor booked me for their wedding at the Rhynd. As a wedding Photographer in Fife, it is exciting to find a new DIY wedding venue, especially one in a beautiful setting close to where I grew up…. I wasn’t disappointed! The day started with Bridal Prep photos at the girl’s AirBNB in Dundee…. You may notice a slight Disney theme here, Lynsey is a huge Disney fan and Gregor even proposed at Disneyland’s Magic Kingdom! It was perfect sunny weather for their wedding day, the guests were welcomed to Fife with a blue sky 🙂 They had a Humanist ceremony indoors, there was a few tears shed in the barn that day! Afterwards everyone came outside for a Gin Bar reception in the garden. Lots of congratulations, hugs and laughter followed! The garden is handy for group photos too, here is the lovely Bridal Party.. After the guests enjoyed a gin or two and some group photos, I took Gregor and Lynsey down the road to Tentsmuir Forest for some photos on the beach. This is one of my favourite beaches in the world, it has perfect golden sand and it honestly felt like we were in Spain that day, it was so warm! We had a wee 10 minute shoot before we felt like we might all roast (especially Gregor in his kilt jacket), then we headed back to the guests. Everyone got to pick a toast drink on their way to hear the speeches. Speeches and dinner were well received! It was a beautiful evening with some golden sunlight so I couldn’t miss the opportunity to grab the newly weds for a quick photo shoot outside before their evening guests arrived. The Rhynd is on a farm and the fields outside have great views. We went back in for dancing, I left them with a full dance floor and I’m sure they had a great evening! Conratulations Mr and Mrs Hunter!
“Honestly Karen they are absolutely fantastic. Gregor and I were in love with every single photo and it even stirred up some tears. You truly are a fantastic photographer and we couldn’t have asked for a better photographer on the day.”
The Cow Shed in Crail is a wedding venue I’ve been counting down the days to visiting ever since Amy and Andy booked it last year… you’ll soon see why! I had actually already taken wedding photos of Amy about 7 years ago (not for a real wedding, she modelled for some wedding photos at her Mum’s work when she was a teenager) so I was really happy when she booked me for her real wedding to Andy (the same tall boy she was going out with when we first met!).The day started off with some bridal prep photos at Amy and Andy’s house, where the girl’s were having their hair and make up done. There was a wee bit of emotion when Amy came downstairs in her beautiful wedding dress! I think Lilly approved of her Mum’s dress choice too 🙂Meanwhile my second Photographer Lynne was with Andy and his Groomsmen over at his family’s farm before they all headed to the Cow Shed…The bridesmaids arrived in style in this classic VW Camper-van. I absolutely loved these sequin dresses, they look great in the photos….The Cow Shed is a DIY venue and Amy and Andy had decorated absolutely every corner with cosy blankets, home made jam favours, chalkboard signs, lighting and even a kid’s tent to keep the little ones amused during the day. Andy is a fishmonger so I especially liked this sign haha….The Camper-van came back with Amy and her Dad and it was time to get married! Lilly and her favourite bunny were first to enter the ceremony room….First look *gulp*It was a tight fit at the front of the room but I was able to peek between the best men to catch some smiley faces from the families 🙂Andy and Amy had a Humanist ceremony with a few reading and a bit of knot tying, this was their first kiss as Mr & Mrs…I’d guess by their faces they are all happy to be married 🙂A bit of Confetti throwing and photos outside followed the ceremony! The Cow Shed is surrounded by fields and Amy was up for swapping her Jimmy Choo’s for wellies for the photos…After the photos it was time to eat! The marquee had just as much amazing decor as the rest of the venue with another VW camper-van as a bar amongst the other details…There was just a small matter of getting the kids off the bouncy castle first…Some lovely speeches before the meal and evening guests arrived. Soon it was time for the party to start!Amy and Andy were the second cutest couple on the dance-floor that night!Everyone was up giving the ceilidh dancing a go when I left and it was all going well!Congratulations Amy and Andy xxx
Carnoustie Golf Hotel is a great wedding venue, especially on a sunny day like Lisa and Neil had! I love the bridal suite, it is huge and bright so great for getting ready photos! How cute is Scarlett looking at her Mum’s wedding dress? 🙂 I spotted the Groom and his Groomsmen from the balcony and got a sneaky photos while the girls hid! They had a Humanist ceremony conducted by Gary Smith. After the ceremony everyone went outside for group photos and drinks in the sunshine… I got a few photos of the bride and groom on the golf course before everyone headed inside for dinner… A bit of dancing finished the day nicely!
Karla and Ryan had a Forbes of Kingennie wedding a few weeks ago. The day started with some bridal prep photography in one of the Lodges…. The men were in a nearby lodge so I popped in to take a few photos on the way to the ceremony building…. As you can see it was a wet day at Forbes of Kingennie! Karla’s bridesmaids helped get her ready to go while Ryan and his groomsmen welcomed the guests into the ceremony room… The helpful staff were on hand with brollies to help Karla and her bridesmaids stay dry! I love when couples let their kids get involved in the ceremony 🙂 They had a Humanist Ceremony conducted by Gary Smith… The windy, wild rain wasn’t going anywhere so we opted for photos in the cosy shelter of the indoors! Speeches were held before dinner… Once the evening guests arrived and the band were ready, I set up some lighting for the first dances….Conrgatulations to all three of you! <3
“Karen did our wedding pictures for us and to say we are delighted is an understatement. We have a three year old son so knew that posing for any length of time would be a challenge and as a result we requested photos that captured the feeling of our day. We are in love with our pictures that show laughter and are honest. Thank you Karen xxx”
Back to main siteFingask Castle weddings are always great, it is a venue with lots of quirky features that look great in photos, so I was excited when Danielle and Graham booked me to photograph their day. We started off at Danielle’s Mum’s house for Bridal Prep photos in the morning. There was a great atmosphere, everyone was relaxed and enjoying having their hair and make-up done. Danielle’s Mum helped her get into her dress… Once Danielle was ready, I left the girls to go and take some photos of Graham and the guests arriving at Fingask. I sneaked a look in the reception marquee when I arrived, I knew they were having a movie theme for their decor and I was really impressed with the details… Graham was waiting at the castle with the Piper to greet the guests arriving off the bus… Danielle followed shortly behind in this classic Volvo and was walked up the aisle by both her parents… Danielle and Graham had a lovely, personal Humanist ceremony with a reading from their bridesmaids… After the ceremony, I took the newlyweds outside for photos straight away. We had half an hour until sunset so we wanted to make the most of the amazing gardens before it got dark…. I got a big group shot of everyone before heading back inside to do the rest of the group photos in the warmth of the castle! We headed over to the Marquee for the meal followed by speeches from Graham and his Best Men…. The evening guests arrival was delayed so we went outside to play with some sparklers while we waited….. Once the evening guests arrived, the dancing started and it was time for me to leave them all to enjoy themselves…Congratulations Mr & Mrs Watson xxx
pBack to main site Dayna and Jordan were lucky to have one of the mildest and prettiest November days in history for their wedding at Rufflets, St Andrews last month! They had so many lovely details decorating the hotel when I arrived for bridal prep in the morning. Their son made the cutest page boy 🙂 Meanwhile my Second Photographer, Lynne, was capturing photos of Jordan and the guests arriving at the Garden Suite for the ceremony… Dayna’s Dad was waiting to give her away at the bottom of the stairs, he looked so proud of her…. After the ceremony we all made our way into the gardens for group photos…. After the group shots, Joradan, Dayna and I went off to explore the gardens around Rufflets which were absolutely beautiful at that time of year. The autumn colours looked amazing… We came back into the warmth for the Speeches and meal… Once the band were set up, Jordan and Dayna cut their cake and started the dancing…. Followed by a fireworks display outside…The perfect end to a perfect day 🙂 congratulations to you three xxx
Back to main website A Kinnettles Castle wedding is always great so I was happy to be back for Erin and Stephen’s wedding recently. It was my third visit this year, but the great thing about this venue is there are so many parts of the grounds to explore so the photos are always completely different. I seem to find a new favourite spot each time! Erin was getting ready in the Castle with her Mum, sisters and nieces. They are a lovely, close family and were all busy helping each other with hair and dresses. Leonie from Beautylicious was also there doing a great job of Erin’s Makeup. Meanwhile, my Second Photographer, Lynne was with Stephen, his Dad, Best Man and Son capturing some shots of them getting ready before making their way to Kinnettles to meet the guests arriving…Erin’s Mum walked her down the aisle to meet her Groom…. After the ceremony, the sky was looking a bit dark so we quickly got the guests assembled for a big group photo outside!…Once the rain came on we took shelter indoors and made use of the staircase…. We were lucky enough that the rain went of again before dinner so we were back out making the most of the amazing scenery around the Castle grounds.I loved all the details in the decor, especially the floral archway 🙂The speeches were well received with lots of tears and laughter….After dinner their evening guests arrived in time for the first dance… It was such a pretty evening, Erin and Stephen were kind enough to let me drag them outside for a few more photos before I left. I’m really pleased with these ones…Congratulations Stephen and Erin, thanks for being for as nice as you are photogenic! xxx
BACK TO MAIN SITEI do love a Guthrie Castle wedding, it is pretty much a dream venue for a Wedding Photographer, I probably don’t need to explain why! I had been looking forward to Danielle and Daniel’s wedding here since they booked me and I was so happy to see the sun shining for a change! The girls were getting ready in the Castle, the boys were in a cottage on the grounds…
It was a long, dramatic walk up the aisle for Danielle, and a long, dramatic wait for Daniel but my second Photographer Lynne and I got some great photos on the way! They had a lovely Humanist ceremony led by Brenda Reid…. After the ceremony, the Piper led the guests up the garden for a big group photo, how amazing is this backdrop?!We took advantage of the beautiful surroundings for our couple’s shoot, I’m usually conscious not to take the Bride and Groom away from their guests to long but admittedly it was hard to stop take photos that day, there are too many photogenic places to stop!I did stop eventually though and they still had time to join to their guests for drinks on the lawn before dinner…
Congratulations Danielle and Daniel, your wedding was amazing! X
Claire and Darren held their wedding at Piperdam recently and I was there to photograph the day. The girls were getting ready at Claire’s parent’s house in Dundee and I arrived to a busy, excited household getting ready in their cute matching dressing gown and slippers…. Mandy from Hair Ups and Helen from IAM Beauty and Make Up were also there to do their magic… The girls helped Claire into her dress while her Dad waited patiently downstairs to see her as a bride for the first time. It was a touching moment….While the girls got ready to get in their cars, my second Photographer Lynne, was with Darren and his Groomsmen at Piperdam….
The Humanist ceremony was held inside the function suite and there were plenty of tears and laughter throughout! After the ceremony Claire and Darren had some photos taken with their wedding car before getting showered in confetti by their guests! We were lucky to have one of the few dry days of the summer but it was really windy! It was a bit of a challenge working with the wind to keep hair and clothes in the right place but we got some great shots in the end… As a big Game of Thrones fan, I loved this table theme! After the speeches and meal, Darren and Claire welcomed their evening guests before cutting their cake. Then the dancing started….
Back to main site I’m a big fan of Balbirnie House as a wedding venue so I had been looking forward to Jess and Darren’s wedding, but it was an added bonus to be greeted by such a good looking bridal party on my arrival! While the girls were having final touches on their hair and make up, I took photos of all the details in the bridal suite….The girls were having an emotional time getting Jess dressed, meanwhile Darren and his Groomsmen were out having their photos taken by my second Photographer Lynne, and welcoming the arriving guests….The ceremony was held in the Orangery, I love the glass roof in this room! After the ceremony we all went outside for photos, luckily the rain that had been falling most of the morning, had stopped and the skies were starting to clear 🙂 Balbirnie has perfect grounds for wedding photos and despite visiting quite a few times previously, this was the first time I’d been in the courtyard… Not a bad discovery! While we were outside, the guests were enjoying drinks in the bar and the Ballroom was being set up for dinner…How amazing is this cake by Scrumptious Cakes?!Brilliant Speeches with plenty of laughter… and tears! After dinner, the evening guests arrived and Darren and Jess were welcomed in to do their first dance….The dance floor filled quickly up and it was time for me to leave them to enjoy the party 🙂Congratulations Jessica and Darren xxx
